Seven years of being your mom, Seven years of lear

Seven years of being your mom,
Seven years of learning how to parent and learning how to apologize for doing it wrong.
You have taught me more in that time than I would have ever thought.

Yesterday I asked “what can I do better as a parent for you?”
You said “let me watch more tv and eat dinner earlier”
So, I guess we are doing ok 😆

You are kind hearted and considerate, beautiful inside and out.

You love animals so much you didn’t want to wear your Halloween lizard costume to the zoo so you wouldn’t scare the animals.

You love deeply and protect fiercely and we are lucky to have you.

A sun soaked family room with a view of Vail mountain as the kids eat jelly from a jar on the countertop, scooter around their home, read books on the couch while both little ones simultaneously suck their thumbs, laughing and cuddling with grandparents and being surrounded by your people, the ones you choose everyday.✨

We met Troy working @cheleycoloradocamps a million

We met Troy working @cheleycoloradocamps a million years ago, or like 14, but anything before kids feels like infinite years.
We spent a summer learning how to live in cabins and care for children, hike, camp, sing around campfires, what to do if a bear comes into campgrounds and simply connect to nature.
We made friends we didn’t know would define where we lived and in turn know people around the world.
We grew in those 8 weeks as counselors and took tools that we use on our own kids today.
Who would know 14 years and 5 kids and 8 dietary restrictions later you could possibly want us to stay with you for a weekend.
It was so nice to watch our kids play and allow us to reconnect with nature and make photos together of this time in your lives.
Thank you!

Makes me wish I adopted that dog a few weeks ago against my husband’s need to “only have one thing that wakes him up at night” or whatever.

Because they got to wake up and see the sunrise. B

Because they got to wake up and see the sunrise.
Because at one point we all think this won’t happen to us, well neither did they.
Because we kiss our kids as they go to school and watch their face right before they enter that door, just. In. case.
Because we have to be overly observant as our kids play on a playground or go to a parade, or camp or the grocery store.
Because they have no idea what is going through our minds every minute they are away.
Because people decided guns are more important than the people we pour our every waking breathe into, for them to take it away.
Because we are NOT numb to it, every fiber of our being is exhausted and emotionally drained.
Because we stay up at night going through every scenario.
Because we imagine what those families are experiencing as they don’t get to kiss their babies and loved ones good night.
Because my kids got to wake up this morning and theirs didn’t.
